Jon Shone (One Direction) takes you into stage sound programming

This is a great series of Keyboardist Jon Shone from One Direction on how to program great stage sounds with the Korg Kronos.

Building Stadium Sounds Part 1

Program Mode. As the Musical Director for One Direction, Jon Shone has toured the world playing some of the world’s biggest gigs. In this video series, he gives an insight to how he uses the KORG KRONOS on the One Direction tours and a beginner’s guide to editing and creating sounds fit for a stadium tour. Maybe most of us will never get to play a stadium gig, but we can but dream.

Background of Jon (from One Direction Wikia):

Jon graduated university in 2003 and began working as a piano teacher in North London. He decided to move on in 2008 and follow his passion of composition and arrangement. Starting out with N-Dubz, Jon went on to work with VV Brown, Tinchy Stryder, Taio Cruz, Pixie Lott and Marina and the Diamonds.

He held auditions for the three other members of One Direction’s band – Sandy Beales (Bass), Dan Richards (Guitar) and Josh Devine (Drums). It came down to two bands, the current one – Band A – and another group – Band B – and the deciding factor was that Band A went to lunch together, not separately. He says “You could be very good, and have it all, but if you don’t look the part, then you won’t get the gig.”

Building Stadium Sounds Part 2
